Repeal The Affordable Care Act Deception

obama fairy

I have been saying repeatedly that the Democrats’ beloved Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act of 2010 (aka. ObamaCare) will never live up to its name. Yesterday the Wall Street Journal reported that, “Health insurers are privately warning brokers that premiums for many individuals and small businesses could increase sharply next year because of the health-care overhaul law, with the nation’s biggest firm projecting that rates could more than double for some consumers buying their own plans.”

Now I am well aware that saying something “could” happen does not guarantee that it will. But if anyone would like to bet me that the Affordable Care Act will, in general, make healthcare more affordable, I will gladly accept your challenge.

Unfortunately, politicians are masters of manipulation; all they ever need to do to get reelected is to get a majority of the people to believe in something as real as the the tooth fairy. Some of us understand why the tooth fairy no longer cometh, while others still believe and cling to their slogan of “hope and change.”

Hey y’all – It’s time to repeal the mis-named Affordable Care Act.

Post Anecdote – A liberal acquaintance of mine recently admitted she was not happy that the ObamaCare law was so complicated, convoluted, and nearly incomprehensible. “It was not supposed to do that,” she remarked. In the interest of preserving friendly relations, I uttered not a word, but rather just smiled and nodded. Remember, Nancy Pelosi did say that they needed to pass the 2000 page health care bill in order to find out what was in it. Did anyone really believe that this law would simplify the healthcare system or make health care more affordable? What ever happened to common sense and critical thinking?

Voter Fraud Update

In our February 20th post “What Voter Fraud?” we reported the story of Melowese Richardson of Hamilton County Ohio who appeared to admit in a filmed interview that she had voted President Obama more than once in the last election cycle. If you haven’t seen the video of her “mea culpa,” please view the Feb 20th post. You won’t believe it.

Now local ABC News affiliate News Channel 5, Cleveland is reporting that Richardson and two others have been indicted on voter fraud charges by the Hamilton County Prosecutor. See the report here: NEWS Channel 5

If we don’t get very serious about preventing voter fraud,  I’m afraid many of us will lose confidence in our electoral process. Such a travesty as that would be another nail in the coffin of our constitutional republic.

Truth In Advertising

“We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.”                   Aesop (620 BC – 560 BC) Greek slave & fable author

Why are politicians exempt from the truth-in-advertising laws they created? The Federal Trade Commission Act mandates that:

•Advertising must be truthful and non-deceptive;

•Advertisers must have evidence to back up their claims; and

•Advertisements cannot be unfair.

President Obama and most members of Congress would be serving time behind bars if the FTC laws that apply to everyone else also applied to them. The next time a politician tries to sell you something or asks for your vote ask yourself if they meet the advertising standards enforced by the FTC. If the answer is no, then it’s time to replace them with someone who has integrity.
